Celebrating Literacy Leadership: A National Spotlight on SDIRC

We are honored to share that the School District of Indian River County (SDIRC), in partnership with The Learning Alliance and the Moonshot Community Action Network (MCAN), has been featured in a national article by the Tampa Bay Times, highlighting our collective efforts to improve literacy outcomes for students in Indian River County.

This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child can read, write, and succeed. It is a testament to the collaborative spirit and dedication of our educators, families, and community partners.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:

The Learning Alliance for their transformative work in literacy education and community engagement.

Moonshot Community Action Network (MCAN) for their innovative initiatives and unwavering support in our shared mission.

Jeff Martin and The Children’s Literacy Project for their impactful storytelling and reminder of what's possible when communities put children first.

From responding to 911 calls to providing critical pre-hospital treatment, EMTs play a vital role in public safety. The U.S. Constitution is only about 4,400 words long — making it the shortest written constitution of any major government. Yet it has guided our democracy for over 230 years!

Today, on Constitution Day, we celebrate the foundation of our freedoms.

Remembering September 11, 2001

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of a nation forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.

In schools across our District, we take time to honor the significance of this day, ensuring our students understand the importance of unity, service, and compassion in the face of tragedy. As we reflect, we are reminded of the strength found in community and the enduring impact of coming together in support of one another.

We will never forget.

Today we remember the 2,977 lives lost on this tragic day 24 years ago. We honor the heroic actions of our first responder's. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
