Limited financial aid funds are available for qualified applicants for Treasure Coast Technical College Programs.

OPEN DOOR GRANT PROGRAM

The 2023-2024 Open Door Grant Program at Treasure Coast Technical College is a financial aid program funded by the Florida Department of Education to support students attending short-term and technical education programs in high-demand fields. The program’s goal for students is to successfully obtain valuable workforce certificates and employment. The Open Door Grant Program addresses and closes the gap between the skills needed by workers in the state and the skills of the available workforce in the state.

This opportunity offers students in eligible programs a maximum award amount equal to 100% of tuition, fees, books, and supplies not otherwise covered by federal grants, state grants, or any other third-party provided payment. The funds are subject to availability and returning students will be given priority. Students that have no account balance are not eligible for the Open Door Grant Program.

To be eligible for the award, a student must:

  • Meet the requirements under s. 1009.40(1)(a)2. and 3., F.S.;
  • Be enrolled at a school district postsecondary technical career center specified under s. 1001.44, F.S., a Florida College System institution specified under s. 1000.21(3), F.S., or a charter technical career center specified under s. 1002.34, F.S., and Be enrolled in:
    • An integrated education and training program, in which institutions establish partnerships with local workforce development boards to provide basic skills instruction, contextually and concurrently, with workforce training that results in the award of credentials under s. 445.004(4), F.S., or
    • A workforce education program, as defined under s. 1011.80(1)(b)-(f), F.S., that is included on the Master Credentials List under s. 445.004(4), F.S.

The following programs are eligible for Spring 2024 Open Door Grant funds:

  • Commercial Driver License (CDL)
  • Culinary
  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Patient Care Technician
  • Phlebotomy
  • Practical Nursing
  • Welding

    Applicants must be a Florida resident for at least one year, be enrolled in an approved program, have an outstanding account balance and complete the Open Door Grant Program Application. Applications for the Open Door Grant Program are due on or before February 8, 2024. Evaluation for eligibility cannot be determined after February 8, 2024. Returning students are given priority and Open Door Grant Program funds are subject to availability.

    ** Please note, any prior payments made to Treasure Coast Technical College cannot be reimbursed by the Open Door Grant Program.
