Medical Assisting Program (Veterans Education Approval)

Designed for students who are interested in learning both the clerical and clinical aspects of the medical office setting. Students will learn how to properly maintain patient records, medical forms, confidentiality, medical office ethics, how to communicate with insurance companies, pharmacies and other medical offices. Students will perform hands-on activities in Phlebotomy, CPR, First Aid, EKG, Universal Precautions and other necessary medical skills. Q: Is there a basic skills test exit requirement?
A: All applicants for Career and Technical Education programs 450 hours or more are required to take a state-mandated basic skills test exam. Program specific minimum levels are required, which are exit requirements for the award of a Career Certificate. Several exemptions are accepted. To be exempt, a student must submit official documentation for verification. Refer to WONDERLIC

Q: Are there prerequisites for the Medical Assisting Program?
A: No, however, a high school diploma or its equivalent is required to sit for the National Health Career Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.
