The School District of Indian River County is proud to announce that the Treasure Coast Technical College has been awarded the Florida Job Growth Grant, worth $532,000, to expand programs offered at the college. The grant provides funds for new equipment, personnel, scholarships, and instructional materials for current and incoming programs, including, welding technologies, building construction technologies, and commercial and culinary arts. Currently, the Treasure Coast Technical College has received one of eight awards that fund improvement of public infrastructure and enhancing workforce training in Florida.

 

Christi Shields, Principal of Treasure Coast Technical College said, “Thank you to Governor Scott and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for providing Treasure Coast Technical College grant funds that will assist to expand our program offerings.  These funds support economic growth by providing the community a local source for affordable, high quality workforce training that results in gainful employment and personal economic sustainability.”  

 

Indian River County Schools Superintendent, Mark Rendell, added, "On behalf of the School District of Indian River County, and indeed our entire community, I want to thank Governor Scott and the Department of Economic Opportunity for this generous support of Treasure Coast Technical College.  We are providing a direct path to high tech, high wage jobs that are in demand, not only here in Indian River County, but in our surrounding region and state."
