What is Career Dual Enrollment (CDE)?
Career Dual Enrollment (CDE) is an option for high school students to enroll in post-secondary courses to earn elective or vocational credit toward high school graduation requirements and to receive clock hours toward a career and technical program certificate. FLDOE Frequently Asked Questions

What are the eligibility requirements for CDE?
A student must:
- Be an 11th, 12th, IRC Virtual, and/or homeschool student
- Meet age restrictions as they apply for some programs. Students can take programs during the Full Year, Fall and/or Spring semesters.
- Have a viable career-technical goal.
- Have a minimum of a 2.0 unweighted GPA and be on target for graduation. All students are strongly encouraged to have passed the FSA, or equivalent test, prior to dual enrollment.
- Have good attendance and discipline records.
- Be mindful that Career Dual Enrollment Students enrolled in TCTC are expected to be responsible adults. High school students will be held to the same behavioral and performance standards as adult students.
Achievement of these eligibility requirements must be documented prior to a student's enrollment in a program.
How are career dual enrollment courses weighted by the school district?
Section 1003.437, F.S., specifies that school districts and Florida College System institutions must weigh career dual enrollment courses the same as Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Advance International Certificate of Education courses when grade point averages are calculated.
